Podcast Episode #3: Media Literacy Week with Matthew Johnson of MediaSmarts

In today’s podcast, we have Matthew Johnson from Media Smarts as my guest! This is an exciting time to be speaking with Matt, because Monday October 23 is the first day of Canada and US’s Media Literacy Week!

Matt will share more about what this week means to him, why we should care about this week, and some exciting events to check out, plus in our conversation, Matt gives us an overview of what Digital Media Literacy is to him, and how Canada is fairing right now in terms of Digital Media Literacy.

*A technical note: I apologize but my microphone was not working well in this recording – Matt sounds great, but mine is less than ideal.  I promise you I will rectify this issue before the next podcast.

Matthew Johnson is the Director of Education for MediaSmarts, Canada's centre for digital and media literacy. He is the author of many of MediaSmarts' lessons, parent materials and interactive resources and a lead on MediaSmarts' Young Canadians in a Wired World research project.
